Important Information about Bass Lake ~ Please Read

The Aquatic Nuisance Control Program (ANC) has received a report of possible treatment with herbicide at Bass Lake, Gogebic County. This potential activity appears to have impacted non-native milfoil and other native plant species present in the lake. The treatment of aquatic plants and algae with aquatic herbicides and algaecides is regulated under Part 33, Aquatic Nuisance Control, of the NREPA. Part 33 is meant to ensure that vegetation treatments are carried out in a way that protects public health and lessens environmental risk. As such, the ANC program is interested in speaking to anyone with information on person(s) who may have treated aquatic plants and algae with herbicides in Bass Lake, date(s) of possible treatment, and general location of the treatment within the lake. If you have information, please contact EGLE-WRD-ANC@Michigan.gov or 517-284-5593.
